Ants

Ants are highly successful insects. It is estimated that there are over 20,000 species of ants and they are spread across all continents.

Ants live in colonies with a complex social structure. There is usually one Queen in each colony (although some species such as Argentine Ants can have more than one Queen per colony).

As fascinating as ants can be, they can also wreak havoc on their environment and cause damage to people and property. Some ant species are extremely aggressive and will bite. Others infest kitchens and larders getting into food. Some ants cause damage to lawns and landscaped areas.

There are various pest control solutions that can be used. The most effective control is usually ant bait.

In this section we review some of the common ant species in the U.S. and the effective pest control measures that can be used against them.
