Brown Dog Ticks

The brown dog tick is a common tick .Unlike other ticks, the brown dog tick can live indoors all its life and for that reason the brown dog tick is found all over the globe.

Although the brown dog tick can feast on any warm-blooded host, in the United States the preferred host is the family dog.

Although called the brown dog tick, the tick can also be red in colo. The body is hexagon in shape.

Although the brown dog tick prefers warmer temperatures, it can be found outside, generally in kennels. Once it moves indoors, the brown dog tick quickly gains a foothold in the house, mulitplying rapidly until its offspring can be seen climbing over furniture. One remale can lay up to 5,000 eggs.

Infestations start quickly and can easily become out of control.
