Horse Flies

Horseflies deliver a nasty bite as well as spread disease. Humans are not their first host of choice, horseflies prefer livestock. They are carriers of lyme disease and encephalitis to name a few diseases they can carry.
Horseflies are larger than houseflies and they are gray in color with a yellow and green patterned body. Horseflies only fly during the day, pestering horses and cattle and goats by landing on them and biting them. Horses are generally attacked on the legs and the belly, and cows are assaulted in the face, chest and rump. Horseflies are not the main carriers of diseases, it is more concerning to those trying to get rid of them, to stop them from biting because the bites sting.
