Coral Snakes

The Coral Snake is found in parts of the United States. These snakes are striking in color and are venomous. At all costs they should be avoided.

Part of the danger with the Coral Snake is that when children see them, they are enchanted by the colors and want to pet the pretty snake. If you live in an area known for coral snakes, please keep a careful watch on your children. Or teach them about this deadly pit viper in order to avoid trauma of being bitten.

There are two main types of Coral Snakes; The Eastern Coral Snake and the Western Coral Snake. Both snakes are by nature shy and only come out at night. They will strike out if they believe they are being threatened.

The difference in the two snakes besides location, is the color they exhibit, the Western Coral snake is white, black and red banded.  The Eastern Coral Snake is yellow, black and red banded.
