Rattlesnake

Rattlesnakes are found all over parts of the United States and Mexico. Their bite can be fatal and before they strike out they will rattle their tail. The sound that emits from the rattlers located on the tail is unmistakable. The victim hearing the sound knows that danger is imminent. There are several species of rattlesnakes all located in the United States.
Rattlesnakes are a member of the pit viper family. The different types of rattlesnakes are:

Timber rattlesnake, Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake, Western Diamondback rattlesnake, red diamond rattlesnake, Mohave rattlesnake, the sidewinder, the prairie rattlesnake, the Great Basin rattlesnake and the Pacific rattlesnake.  These snakes range from the United States to Mexico.

Rattlesnakes are easily identifiable by their rattles located on the tip of the tail. This is an early warning system that the rattlesnake is signaling he is agitated or feels threatened.

The rattlesnakes fangs right before he is ready to strike unfold out of the roof of their mouth. Inside is the venom and the teeth are like needles. Depending on the size of the victim will depend on how much venom the rattlesnake pumps into the victim's system.

Pest Control Tips for dealing with rattlesnakes:

Preventing snakes from invading your property is the best bet. If you like to hike and are in an area known for rattlesnakes, wear long pants, long sleeves and heavy boots and socks.

At home keep your debris outside picked up. Install heavy screens in openings that lead under your home or into your home. Keep the rodent population down as well. Rodents are the prey of choice for the rattlesnakes. You can also build a snake-proof fence around your place. This is extremely important if you have small children and outside pets.

If you find a rattlesnake, your best course of action is to call a local snake wrangler to come and trap it. Trapping it yourself could lead to trouble. If you or someone you know gets bit by a rattlesnake, the most important thing to remember is to remain calm and seek medical emergency help immediately. The more agitated the victim becomes, the faster the venom will spread.
